A unique situation regarding the organization’s outfielders is setting up the Brewers’ front office for some interesting decisions in the near future.
During the many eras of Milwaukee baseball, most included an outfielder who became labeled as the “face of the franchise.” First were the days of Hank Aaron and the Milwaukee Braves, followed by the Robin Yount-led Brewers of the ‘80s. Ryan Braun helped revive the franchise in the late ‘00s and early ‘10s before passing the torch to Christian Yelich, who was arguably the best player in Major League Baseball between 2018-19.
In 2024, Major League Baseball plans to deploy an automated strike zone system to eliminate umpire errors behind the plate.
This would eliminate the human aspect of the game entirely. At that point, the MLB should just put robots on the field.
The Milwaukee Brewers franchise has been plagued with inconsistencies since they joined the MLB in 1969.
However, one thing that has been consistent – especially in recent history – is the catcher position. More specifically, their defense.
Max Scherzer, known to many as “Mad Max,” is a dominant force on the pitcher’s mound and one of the best players in Major League Baseball.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 27, 1984, Scherzer’s passion for baseball started at a young age. He grew up playing the game and developed a fierce competitive spirit that has served him well throughout his career.
After the 2022 season, the MLB decided to address some issues that have become quite prevalent in the last few years for the league.
The overarching issue was that baseball was losing television viewership, falling behind the NBA and NFL in ratings. The two obvious causes were how long the games were taking, and the lack of offense as a whole.
A 15-second pitch clock, bigger bases, and a ban on shifting has increased excitement and action for baseball fans.
In recent years, Major League Baseball has struggled with slow-paced, low action contests that push fans further away from the game. Once America’s pastime, baseball has now become only 11% of adults’ favorite sport – well behind football at 34%, according to CNN Sports.
This season, the MLB has employed a few new changes that promise to not only make baseball more exciting and entertaining for fans, but to increase the speed of action throughout the game.
