On a cold, brisk October night at Jeffrey Field, home of the Penn State Nittany Lions soccer team, senior midfielder Andrew Privett takes it all in one last time. He is about to play the final home game of his collegiate career.
Unsure of what the future will hold for him, Privett takes his first touch, and all his worries are wiped away as it once again is just him and the ball as it’s been so often in his life.

Ever since Justin was a little kid, his life revolved around sports.
He was born into a family of athletes that lived and breathed all things sports. Justin was a fantastic athlete as a kid, competing in various sports at a young age. He was an outstanding basketball and soccer player. In fact, he was so good that once he reached the 8th grade, he did not have enough time to play both at such a high level. Justin made the tough decision to drop basketball and stick with his true passion, soccer.
“I didn’t know a life without soccer, so I thought I kind of had to play in college.”
From the time Kayla was 4 years old up until her freshman year of college, all Kayla knew was soccer. She spent endless hours at practice, at games, at workouts, at team bonding activities, and everything in between. So naturally, Kayla wanted to continue playing soccer at an even higher level at a D1 university.
Max Walters is the epitome of a dedicated athlete who didn’t let an injury define his future.
Walters is a fourth-year biology major with minors in chemistry and business administration at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, and is an outside back for UWEC’s Division III Men’s Soccer team.
When asked to describe Walters in a few words, his past and current teammates came to the same consensus: dependable, hard-working, and passionate. These positive attributes make sense when considering Walters has been elected captain for three years in a row, along with recently earning All-Wisconsin Honors Defensive Player of the Year.
