Getting Into Baseball
In the summer of 1981, Chia-Tse Hsu was born in Tainan City, Taiwan.
During his third year of elementary school, Hsu transferred to Tainan Chung-Shueh Elementary School. He was a particularly lively child who had endless energy every day. “At that time, my family said I was particularly active, and coincidentally, the new school had a baseball team, so they let me sign up and hoped that I could spend some of my energy training every day.”
In sunny Florence, Alabama in mid-February, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee opened in strong fashion, producing two wins.
In a doubleheader, the Panthers dominated early in the first game on the offensive side of the plate cracking doubles, home runs, and stolen bases. The second game followed suit, where they got out to an early 4-0 lead.
Come the bottom of the 9th, the Panthers were in good shape, leading 6-2. However, following two singles and a wild pitch by Gavin Theis, the Panthers found themselves in trouble, and the North Alabama Lions found themselves some hope.
There’s just something different about baseball.
After the 2022 season, the MLB decided to address some issues that have become quite prevalent in the last few years for the league.
The overarching issue was that baseball was losing television viewership, falling behind the NBA and NFL in ratings. The two obvious causes were how long the games were taking, and the lack of offense as a whole.
A 15-second pitch clock, bigger bases, and a ban on shifting has increased excitement and action for baseball fans.
In recent years, Major League Baseball has struggled with slow-paced, low action contests that push fans further away from the game. Once America’s pastime, baseball has now become only 11% of adults’ favorite sport – well behind football at 34%, according to CNN Sports.
This season, the MLB has employed a few new changes that promise to not only make baseball more exciting and entertaining for fans, but to increase the speed of action throughout the game.
